Discover the distinctive beauty of the Silver Purple Breast Gouldian Finch at Lady Gouldian Finch Canada. With its soft silver coloration contrasted by a rich purple breast, this is one of the most striking—and challenging—Gouldian mutations we produce.Silver Gouldians require particularly careful breeding management. At Lady Gouldian Finch Canada, we periodically breed our Silver lines back to Green Backs to help maintain health, vigour, and genetic diversity. This means we deliberately produce fewer Silvers and will not increase production simply to meet demand.
⚠️ EXPERIENCED BREEDERS ONLY
Silver Gouldians are our least hardy mutation and are not recommended for novice Gouldian keepers or breeders. These birds require an experienced understanding of Gouldian husbandry, nutrition, breeding management, and the early recognition of potential health concerns. We strongly recommend gaining experience with hardier Gouldian varieties before working with Silvers.
As a result of our careful breeding program, availability is limited and wait times for this mutation can be considerably longer. We appreciate your patience while we prioritize the health, vigour, and quality of the birds we produce.
Due to the reduced and altered expression of mask colour in Silver Back Gouldians, Red and Orange Head birds cannot always be distinguished from one another with 100% accuracy.

This is an exceptionally difficult mutation to produce and successfully raise to adulthood. Our experience has shown a historical strike rate of approximately 36% reaching maturity, requiring considerably more time, resources, and careful management than our other Gouldian mutations. For this reason, Silver White Breast Gouldians are produced in very limited numbers, and we will not increase production simply to meet demand.
⚠️ EXPERIENCED BREEDERS ONLY Silver White Breast Gouldians are not recommended for novice Gouldian keepers or breeders. This is one of the most challenging mutations we work with and requires substantial experience with Gouldian husbandry, nutrition, breeding management, and recognizing problems at an early stage. We strongly recommend gaining significant breeding experience with hardier Gouldian varieties before considering this mutation.
Availability : wait time 8-10 months ( on average)
Availability is entirely dependent on breeding results, and reservations are fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to the difficulty and unpredictability involved in producing this phenotype, wait times may be considerably longer than those for other Gouldian mutations.
